How would you rate BELLAMI Hair?
I have worn BELLAMI hair extensions for more than five years, and throughout that entire time I have taken exceptional care of them. My wefts, which are installed with beads by my longtime professional hairstylist, have consistently lasted one year to a year and a half per set. My hairstylist has been the only person who has installed, maintained, and cared for my hair and extensions during those five years.
I also follow her professional recommendations when it comes to hair care. I purchase only high-quality products specifically recommended for extensions, and I take meticulous care of my wefts. In fact, I do not even blow-dry my wefts. Given my history with BELLAMI and the exceptional longevity of my previous sets, I had every reason to expect the same quality when I purchased another set of wefts.
Unfortunately, that was absolutely not the case.
After my hairstylist installed my newest BELLAMI wefts, it took less than a week—two weeks at the absolute most—for the hair to begin breaking and matting. This was completely unacceptable, particularly considering that I had just paid significantly more for them. In fact, the price of the wefts had increased by more than $200 compared with my previous purchase.
I see my hairstylist every four weeks, and I immediately brought the issue to her attention. She was able to identify the problem right away. The wefts were visibly breaking in the middle of the weft, and the severe matting was clearly inconsistent with the quality I had experienced from BELLAMI for the previous five years. This was not an issue with how I cared for the extensions. My hairstylist has extensive professional experience with extensions and has personally cared for my BELLAMI extensions for years.
My hairstylist then spent weeks attempting to communicate with BELLAMI customer service, which was incredibly difficult. Getting anyone to respond or meaningfully address the problem was frustrating in itself. Eventually, she was able to speak with someone, and BELLAMI requested photographs of my extensions. We removed the extensions when I came in to have my natural hair colored, and my hairstylist documented the condition of the wefts and sent the requested photographs.
BELLAMI then scheduled a phone call with my hairstylist. During that conversation, she was told that there was nothing BELLAMI could do because they could not verify how I “treat my wefts.”
That response is extremely disappointing and, frankly, insulting.
BELLAMI can verify my purchase history. They can see that I have been a longtime customer who has purchased their extensions repeatedly over the course of more than five years. What they apparently cannot do is trust the professional hairstylist who has personally installed and cared for my extensions throughout that entire time—a licensed professional who orders my hair products, understands proper extension care, and has extensive experience working with multiple clients who wear hair extensions.
If BELLAMI's position is that a professional hairstylist's assessment of a product's quality isn't sufficient, then what exactly is the value of working with professional stylists who purchase and recommend BELLAMI products to their clients?
The difference in quality between my previous BELLAMI wefts and this newest set was dramatic. My previous sets lasted 12–18 months with proper care. These began breaking and matting within days. That is not remotely acceptable, especially after the price increased by more than $200.
What is even more disappointing than the poor quality is the way BELLAMI handled the situation. After being a loyal customer for more than five years, I expected BELLAMI to take a legitimate quality complaint seriously and work toward a reasonable resolution. Instead, I was essentially told that they could not verify how I cared for the extensions, despite my longtime professional hairstylist being able to directly attest to my care routine and the condition and quality of the hair.
BELLAMI has lost me as a customer.
My hairstylist and I will no longer purchase these wefts for me or recommend them to her clients. I am extremely disappointed that a company I trusted for years has allowed its product quality to decline while simultaneously increasing its prices—and then refused to stand behind the product when a longtime customer experienced an obvious quality issue.
If you are considering purchasing BELLAMI hair extensions, I strongly urge you to think twice. My experience has been that the quality of the wefts I most recently purchased does not justify the price, and my experience with customer service was even more disappointing.
After five years of loyalty, I expected better. I paid more than ever and received significantly worse quality. BELLAMI did not stand behind its product, did not adequately address my concerns, and ultimately showed me that it does not value the loyalty of its longtime customers or the professional hairstylists who recommend and purchase its products. I will not be purchasing BELLAMI extensions again.
